I believe Design cannot exist in a vaccum, I want to design for communities and ecosystems, creating cascading positive changes
I am Aude Saint Joanis, a product designer. I work with a wide range of mediums, but I particularly enjoy using living materials and natural processes as tools for my projects. I'm energised by the possibilities speculative design offers in constructing the world of tomorrow and consider design a vehicle for positive environmental and social impact.
I was born and raised in the urban suburbs of Paris, but every year, I spent several months at my grandparents' house in the countryside, in a village with more cows than inhabitants. This closeness to nature from childhood developed in me a strong interest in how things grow, how living things interact, and how ecosystems transform.
When I moved to London in 2017 to study design, I brought with me this desire to make natural systems interact with human-centred design. These inspirations especially developed while I was conducting my MA at the Royal College of Art.
In my spare time, you'll find me making puzzles, whether jigsaw, sudoku, or bouldering. I also love to DIY stuff around the house and go on adventure with my dog.
